Bulldogs Win Boys, Girls Golf Matches

Effingham St. Anthony boys varsity golf team won a match against Salem in action Tuesday, 164-174.

The Bulldogs were led by medalist Niko Dust with a 39 followed by Luke Ludwig and Trey Koester, both at 41 and Jacob Schmidt with a 43.

Non-scorers were Zach Wortman 43 and Nathan Schultz 47.

Salem scoring came from Connor Brooks with a 40, Max Phillips 43, Justin Stinson 43 and Jared Hubler 48.

In girls play, St. Anthony won 191-221. Scoring for the Bulldogs were medalist Clare McHugh with a 44, Ava Wegman 45, Abbie Schmidt 46 and Regan Koester 56.

Non-scorers were Abby Repking 58 and Jessica Coffin 57.

Salem scorers were Riley Anderson 51, Sheyrida Middleton 54, Cora Cantrell 56 and Shelbie Spinner 60.

St. Anthony played host to Mattoon in boys junior varsity competition and won 171-183.

The Bulldogs' Dylan Ferguson and Mattoon's Tanner Romine shared medalist honors with a 40 each.

Also scoring for St. Anthony were Jayden Rios 41, Luke Flaig 43 and Ethan Rozene 47. Non-counters were Ryan Schultz 47, Ben Strullmyer 48, Alex Erickson 49 and Darin Hutchison 59.

Scoring for Mattoon were Tanner Romine 40, Caden Highland 44, Deacon Letner 46 and Lane Goss 53. Non-counters were Mason Phipps 55, Perry Curtis 58, Houstis Haldersen 59, Cason Vadakin 60 and Caleb Coleman 61.

 

At Pana

Altamont finished third in a triangular golf meet at Oak Terrace Golf Course Tuesday.

Hillsboro won the meet with a 158 followed by Pana 189 and Altamont 195. Scoring for the Indians were Noah Kopplin with a 44, Dylan Miller with a 45, Grant Schmdt with a 50 and Austin Wendling with a 56.

Non-counters were Harrison Fitzjarrald 63 and Logan Sims 70.

Medalist was Hillsboro's A. White with a 37.
