Miranda Rohlfing Advances To State Finals

Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis missed advancing as teams after competing in the Class 1A Teutopolis Girls Golf Sectional Monday at the Effingham Country Club.

St. Anthony missed by six strokes, taking fourth place, while T-town finished 12th. Massac County won the team championship with a 343 total followed by Nashville 357, Eldorado 364, St. Anthony 370, Columbia 386, Belleville Althoff Catholic 390, Mount Carmel 391, Okawville 400,  Alton Marquette 419, Pinckneyville 425, Herrin 435 and Teutopolis 462. The top three advance as teams.

St. Anthony’s Miranda Rohlfing tied Shawn Renegarbe of Nashville for the top spot with a 74 each. They had a playoff for medalist honors and Renegarbe won with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Emmie Schultz 91, Mariah Bushue 100 and Madison Bushue 105. Non-scorers were Kyla Burton 120 and Sara Ragland 138.

Rohlfing will advance as an individual. The top 10 individuals, not members of teams, advance to the Class 1A State Finals Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Also advancing individually were Allie Leingang (Columbia) 81, Heather McDaniel (Pinckneyville) 85, Raechelle Leiken (Vandalia) 86, Megan Biscan (Columbia) 87, Kendra Kessler (Sparta) 88, Elaina  Smith (Alton Marquette) 89, Abbey  Lieghty (Mount  Carmel) 89, Katie Garver (Trico) 89 and Maddie Elbe (Belleville Althoff Catholic) 90.

Effingham had two individuals competing. Morgan Wilson scored a 99 while Courtney White had a 119.

Scoring for Teutopolis were Holly Dust 111, Celeste Deters 112, Haley Giles 115 and Leah Kremer 124. Non-scorers were Ellie Ruholl 138 and Laura Wente 148.
