Miranda Rohlfing Winner for UMSL at Frito Lay/All State Intercollegiate Golf Tourney

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. -- Effingham St. Anthony High School graduate Miranda Rohlfing guided her team to a women's golf victory in the Frito Lay/All State Intercollegiate during weekend action.

The Tritons took a 28 stroke lead in the opening round Sunday and the final round Monday was canceled due to inclement weather. UMSL shot a 315 followed by Jackson State with a 343, Alcorn State with a 384 and Mississippi Valley State with a 406.

Rohlfing, a junior, was the individual winner, the first of her career. She carded a career-best four-over-par 76. Her teammates, Alexa Capesius and Maxi Roth tied for runner-up honors with a 77 each while Ares Boira was fourth with a 79. Rounding out the scoring was Stefaniya Ivanova who was sixth with an 82 and Alix Berirard, who was eighth with an 85.

Rohlfing was a four-year letterwinner at St. Anthony. She finished 16th at state as a senior after taking a second place finish in regionals and a first place finish in sectionals. She posted a team-best scoring average of 79 as a senior. She also was the team captain and named the Most Valuable Player. She led the Bulldogs to a 15-1 record, a regional championship and a fourh place finish at sectionals.

As a sophomore at UMSL, Rohlfing was named an Academic All-GLVC selection. The Tritons will next head to the Las Vegas Desert Classic Feb. 28-29.

Rohlfing, the daughter of Brad and Carolyn Rohlfing, is majoring in nursing.
