Deters Ties for 33rd at State Golf Tourney

BLOOMINGTON -- Teutopolis High School's Christian Deters finished in a tie for 33rd in the Class 1A State Boys Golf Tournament Saturday.

In opening round play, Deters, a junior, scored a 44-40 -- 84. His tally for Saturday was a 43-43 -- 86 for a grand total of 170 at the Prairie Vista Golf Course.

Michael Mattas was medalist for the event and the state champion with a 149, winning by a stroke. Claiming the team championship was Byron with a +69 followed by Quincy Notre Dame +82, Rock Island Alleman +85, Elgin St. Edwards +86 and Palos Heights +98 in the top five.
