EHS Boys, Girls Win in Golf, T-town Girls, Boys In Action

Effingham High School played host to Charleston in boys golf competition Tuesday and won 159-166. Reed Schafer was medalist with two-under-par 34 at the Effingham Country Club.

Also scoring for the Hearts were Callaway Smith 37, Ryan Sandifer 43 and Jacob Sigg 45.

"This was a good win for us as they have beaten us twice," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Reed put it all together today and played one of the best rounds of his career with a two-under 34. Callaway was solid as always turning in a 37. Jacob helped us with a counting score of 45. We have to find a way to beat this team in the regional in a few weeks."

In girls action, Effingham tallied 178 followed by Pana with a 222. Mount Zion also competed but did not have enough golfers for a team score.

Alex Brummer was medalist for the Hearts with a 36. Also scoring were Hope Collier 40, Keira Hirtzel 49 and Kaylee Tonn 53.

At Effingham

In a girls match at the Effingham Country Club, Teutopolis played host to  Robinson. The Maroons did not have enough players for a team score.

Scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Maddie Hoene 54, Madison Magee 54,  Katie Thoele 59 and Alie Niebrugge 60. The medalist was Robinson's Ferguson with a 50.

Iin the boys contest, Robinson won with 171 followed by T-town 178. Medalist was Robinson's Tom Goodman with a 36.

Rounds for T-town were Braydan Bushue 43, Christian Deters 44, Keegan Meyer 45, Dylan Buenker 46, Austin Weber 51 and Mat Weber 54.
