Bulldogs Win Boys, Girls Titles at Windsor Invitational, EHS Second At Paris Invite

WINDSOR -- Effingham St. Anthony won both the boys and girls Windsor Invitational championships Saturday at Fox Prairie Golf Course.

In the girls meet, St. Anthony tallied 373 followed by Effingham 376, Greenville 441 and Teutopolis 443.

Scoring for St. Anthony were Ava Wegman 84, Abbie Schmidt 91, Kyla Burton 93 and Clare McHugh 105. Non-counting were Regan Koester 108 and Abby Repking 131.

Scoring for Effingham were Alex Brummer 80, Hope Collier 88, Keira Hirtzel 99 and Kaylee Tonn 109. Non-counting was Lindsey Stephenson 121.

Teutopolis scores listed were only for one day. Katie Thoele had a 49 while Maddie Hoene had a 54, Madie Magee 59 and Allie Niebrugge 59.

In boys action, St. Anthony won with 321 followed by Teutopolis 330, Greenville 333, Decatur L.S.A. 338, Maroa-Forsyth 356, Shelbyville 356, Arcola 361, Sullivan 363, Effingham St. Anthony JV 370, Okaw Valley 371, Hillsboro 378, Altamont 381, Windsor 398, Mattoon JV 399 and Casey-Westfield 417.

Scoring for St. Anthony were Jared Hutchison 36-41 -- 77, Luke Ludwig 49-37 -- 77,  Niko Dust 40-39 -- 79 and Mitchell Sager 42-46 -- 88. Non-counting scores were Jeff Niebrugge 46-47 -- 93 and Trey Koester 47-48 -- 95.

T-town's Christain Deters finished in first place with a 73 followed by Luke Baker (Neoga) 74, Cole Pickett (Greenville) 75, Jared Hutchison (St. Anthony) 77, Luke Ludwig (St. Anthony) 77, Clayton Miller (Arcola) 77, Niko Dust (St. Anthony) 79, Dylan Ground (LSA) 79 and Gage Brauns (Greenville) 79.

Finishing for St. Anthony junior varsity were Jacob Schmidt 40-42 -- 82, Will Willenborg 44-48 -- 92, Nathan Schultz 52-45 -- 97 and ach Wortman 49-50 -- 99. Non-counters were Augie Heal 50-52 -- 102 and Ethan Rozene 54-54 -- 108.

 

At Paris

Effingham finished second at the Paris Invitational in boys golf Saturday. Mattoon won with 325 followed by Effingham 334 and Charleston 340 in the top three.

Effingham's Callaway Smith tied for first with a 73 then won the second hole in a playoff. Other scores for the Hearts were Matt Linders 86, Ryan Sandifer 91, Jacob Sigg 93 and Michael Woltman 100.

"It was a good finish for us as now everyone in our regional has beaten each other," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "It's going to be wide open."
