Charleston picked up a quadrangular boys meet, hosted by Teutopolis, with a 160 total followed by Effingham 163, Teutopolis 164 and Casey-Westfield 201.

"Well I saw a lot of positives out there today," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "I thought we hung in there great, but just couldn't turn it into a win against Charleston. They are going to be a force to reckon with having four freshmen in their lineup. Also Teutopolis has the chance to do some real damage in the 1A tournament.

"We just have to keep working and fine tune what we can do. Ryan Sandifer had his best round of the year and Callaway and Reed played good today. We have a big rest of the week heading to Charleston tomorrow for a rematch."

The Hearts were led by Callaway Smith with a 38, Ryan Sandifer with a 39, Reed Schafer with a 40 and Michael Woltman with a 46.

Teutopolis was led by Christian Deters, who was medalist on the day, with a 37, Braydon Bushue with a 39, Mat Weber with a 43 and Keegan Meyer with a 45.
