Saturday's Results

Gary Saunders Invitational, Macomb

St. Anthony continued its successful weekend in Macomb by placing second in the Gary Saunders Invitational. The Bulldogs improved on their previous day match score shooting a 314, seven strokes behind winner University High. In ideal weather conditions, the Bulldogs used their depth to defeat many 2A and 3A schools.

"The team did very well this weekend," said Coach Zaccari. "Again, thanks to Coach Ben Scherzer for covering me this weekend. We are happy with the second place finish, but not satisfied. Seniors Cole Buehnerkemper and Dalton Anderson really stepped it up today, improving over their previous day's score, Cole by seven strokes and Dalton by 10 which really helped secure our high finish. Joe Powell continued to be consistent for us , even though he struggled a little today, he still ground out a 77. Sophomore, Garrett Hixenbaugh stayed steady with a good 81 to round out our scoring. Overall, all of our players were within five strokes of each other, this depth may turn out to be a solid strength for us. Overall a good performance this weekend. We will try to continue this Monday as we travel to Champaign," concluded Zaccari.

University HIgh won the team championship with a 307 followed by the Bulldogs 314, Macomb 319, Alleman 319, Galesburg 326, PORTA 330, Pleasant Plains 331, Assumption 332, Bloomington 340, Monmouth-Roseville 341, Urbana 354, Olympia 387
