PANA -- Effingham High School girls squad downed host Pana 174-221 in golf action Monday.

The Hearts were led by Morgan Wilson and Alex Brummer with a 38 each. Hope Collier and Kaylee Tonn had a 47 each. Non-counting scores were Madison Weis 50 and Camryn Heuerman 70. The Hearts are now 17-3 on the season.

Scoring for Pana were Hannah Miller 50, Olivia Kamer 56, Teagan Strom 57 and Miranda Foster 58. Non-counting were Anna Osborn 58 and Rebecca Miller 62.

 

At Effingham

The Effingham boys squad improved its record to 10-0 with wins in triangular play at the Effingham Country Club Monday.

The Hearts tallied 144 followed by Mount Zion 169 and Taylorville 196. Mount Zon drops to 7-5 and Taylorville 14-11.

Medalist was Effingham's Jackson Wendling with a 33. Also scoring were Reed Schafer 35, Jake Linders 38 and Callaway Smith 38. Non-counting scores were Sean Sandifer 45 and Ryan Sandifer 48.

"We had a great night on the links," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Perfect weather, golf course was in great shape and we responded. I'm not sure if they tied the school record or were two off of it. Jackson continued his stellar play shooting three-under-par 33 after bogeying the first hole. Reed had his best nine hole round shooting one-under-par 35. Jake and Callaway again played solid rounds of 38."

Scoring for Mount Zion were Ben Cleveland 38, Danny Miller 41, Lucas Lamb 42 and Austin Cox 48. Non-counting scores were Kyle Cole and Shane Roulan with a 49 each.

Taylorville scorers were Evan Klaves 42, Conner Black 46, Ben Dorchinecz 49 and Eric Dust 51. Non-counting were Logan Harris 55 and Kaycee Robinson 60.

In exhibition were Matt Linders 45, Jacob Sigg 51 and Cole Hagan 57.

 

At Mahomet

Effingham St. Anthony took second place in a triangular meet at the Lake of the Woods Golf Course Monday.

Winning was Bloomington Central Catholic with 154 followed by St. Anthony 163 and Champaign St. Thomas More 164.

Medalist was St. Thomas More's Chris Tate with a 33. St. Anthony's Jared Hutchison took second with a 35. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Garrett Hixenbaugh 38, Connor Greene 42 and Jeff Niebrugge 48. Non-counting scores were Nate Schmidt 50 and Sam Wortman 52.

Scoring for St. Thomas More were Tate, Tyler Vodecek 42, Wes Kramer 44 and Michael Lee 45. Non-counters were Lucas Tay 52 and Jack Peifer 54.

Scoring for Central Catholic were Owen Talbutt 37, Parker Watts 38, Eric Gilpin 39 and Tom Egbers 40. Non-counters were Jack Costigan 41 and Ryan Hartness 45.

The St. Anthony girls golf team won a match against Champaign St. Thomas More, 183-219.

Madison Bushue was the medalist for the Bulldogs with a 43. Also scoring were Abbie Schmidt 45, Kyla Burton 47 and Mariah Bushue 48.

 

At Windsor

Altamont picked up its fifth victory of the season by downing Windsor/Stew-Stras 191-210 in boys golf competition.

Windsor's Tristan Warner was the medalist with a 37 at the Fox Prairie Golf Course. Leading Altamont were Cameron Jackman and Logan Deadmond with a 46 each. Also scoring were Adam Mayhaus 49 and Noah Kopplin 50. Non-counters were Dylan Miller 56 and Luke Behl 67.

Scoring, along with Warner, for Windsor were Noah Boyer 57, Katie Greuel 58 and Anthony Curry 58. Non-counting scores were Sterling Howard 58 and Luke Gilbert 64.

Neoga's Luke Baker competed and tallied a 44.
