WINDSOR -- Effingham St. Anthony finished with a 325 total to win the Windsor Boys Golf Invitational Saturday at Fox Prairie Golf Course. It was the 11th time in the past 13 years the Bulldogs have won the invite.

The Bulldogs were followed by Greenville 338, Maroa-Forsyth 344, Hillsboro 344, Shelbyville 354, Arcola 359, Teutopolis 372, St. Anthony JV 382, Altamont 392, Mattoon JV 392, Okaw Valley 397, Casey-Westfield 426, Sullivan 431 and Windsor 436.

"We played okay today," said Coach Phil Zaccari. "Fox Prairie was in great shape and the weather was great. It was a good day to score well. Connor Greene played solid, a couple putts burnt edges or it could have been real low. Garrett Hixenbaugh had a couple bad holes but he kept grinding to finish tied for four individually.

"Nate Schmidt really stepped up today and had a solid 82. If he can continue that, he will help us be deeper as we wind up our season over the next couple of weeks. From a junior varsity side, Niko Dust has been showing great improvement and played a solid round. Overall we still need to putt better as we left a lot of short putts out there. Hopefully, our best is still to come."

Windsor's Tristan Warner was medalist with a 75. Neoga's Luke Baker took second with a 75. St. Anthony's Greene was third with a 76. Teutopolis' Christian Deters and St. Anthony's Hixenbaugh were fourth with an 80 each.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Schmidt with an 82 and Jared Hutchison 87. Non-counting were Jeff Niebrugge 87 and Sam Wortman 91.

Scoring for the junior varsity squad were Dust 84, Gus Koester 99, Jacob Schmidt 99 and Mitchell Sager 100. Non-counting scores were Augie Heal 113 and Ethan Rozene 128.

"The Eagle played very difficult today," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Even with Jackson visiting Nebraska, we should have done much better. Reed Schafer did a nice job today leading us. I was very happy with Ryan Sandifer's round. He started off terrible, but played very well his last 17 holes."

Scoring for the Hearts were Jake Linders 85, Callaway Smith 88, Schafer 84 and R. Sandifer 91. Non-counting were Sean Sandifer 94 and Matt Linders 107.
