Effingham St. Anthony played host to Champaign St. Thomas More in a boys golf match Tuesday at the Effingham Country Club.

"We played a team better ball match just to change things up," said Coach Phil Zaccari. "It was our Senior night and it was nice to get a great win for our seniors. They have all had good careers and contributed to the St. Anthony golf tradition.

"Connor Greene has been playing really well to finish his career. He topped it off tonight by driving #18 and making
the 10 foot eagle putt. Garrett Hixenbaugh has also developed into a solid golfer who, like Greene, has been a member of three state final teams. Gus Koester never really cracked our top six, but he will get his second varsity letter this year and has consistently improved over his career.

"Nate Schmidt has shown the most improvement over his career and it has been a pleasure watching him grow into a fine golfer. Sam Wortman is our final senior who has recently emerged as one of our most consistent scorers this year. All of these guys have represented St. Anthony very well and will be missed. Hopefully we will be able to send them out the way they deserve," concluded Zaccari.

The St. Anthony girls golf team won a match against Champaign St. Thomas More, 177-240. Individual medalists were Madison and Mariah Bushue with a 42 each.

Other scorers were Abbie Schmdit 46 and Kyla Burton 47. Scoring for St. Thomas More were Emily Roth 50, Veronica Burton 59, Br. Hege 64 and Emma Ashlund 67.
