St. Anthony Second, EHS Fourth at Charleston Girls Invitational

Effingham St. Anthony High School captured second place in the Charleston Girls Golf Invitational Thursday.

Charleston won its own scramble with a score of 72 followed by St. Anthony 77, Mattoon 85, Effingham 88, Champaign Centennial 89, Salem 90, Pana 91, Mount Zion 93, Teutopolis 98 and a tie with Sullivan and Paris with 110. Decatur Eisenhower had players competing but not a full team.

St. Anthony's Marian Bushue and Madison Bushue finished tied for fourth with Effingham's Morgan Wilson and Alex Brummer. Each duo had a 38. Winning was Charleston's Lauren Chappell and Ally O'Dell with a 35. Mount Zion's Ashley Miller and Liz Bird took second with a 36. Morgan Sherwood and Aislinn Parish of Charleston finished third with a 37. Lauren Spain and Katie  Holsapple of Mattoon finished out the top five with a 38.

Effingham's Hope Collier and Cameron Heuerman tallied a 50 while Kaylee Tonn and Madison Weis had a 54. St. Anthony's Abbie Schmidt and Kyla Burton shot a 39.

 

At Sandoval

Sandoval scored 187 while Effingham St. Anthony's junior varsity squad tallied 192 in a boys meet Thursday.

Medalist was Sandoval's Wyatt Schuler with a 40. Also scoring for the homestanders were Garrett Bates 43, Jordan Johnson 45 and Collin Johnson 59. Non-counting score was Bryce Bryan with a 60.

Scoring for the Bulldogs were Gus Koester 45, Jacob Schmidt 47, Mitchell Sager 49 and Trey Koester 51. Non-counting scores were Will Willenborg 58, Derek Kruger 59, Ethan Rozene 63, Augie Heal 63, and Kyle Willenborg 69.
