Seahawks Dominate Broncos For First Super Bowl Win

(East Rutherford, NJ) -- The Seattle Seahawks are celebrating their first title after beating the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl 48 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  The 'Hawks jumped out to a 22-0 halftime lead and never looked back, cruising to their first Super Bowl win in just their second appearance.

Malcolm Smith returned a Peyton Manning interception 69 yards for a score in the second quarter to help Seattle pull away and was named MVP following the game. The Seahawks defense forced Manning into two interceptions and a fumble while Denver turned it over a total of four times. Percy Harvin returned the opening kickoff of the second half 87 yards for a TD.

Russell Wilson threw for 206 yards with a pair of touchdown passes to Jermaine Kearse and Doug Baldwin while Harvin ran for 45 yards in the win. Marshawn Lynch had 15 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Manning ended up throwing for 280 yards and a touchdown to Demaryius Thomas, who caught a Super Bowl record 13 passes for 118 yards.

Denver managed just 27 rushing yards in the loss. The Broncos fell to 2-5 in Super Bowls.
