ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Jimmy Garoppolo to Erik Lora combination that had been deadly at Eastern Illinois for the last two college football seasons was on display for at least one more day as the two played as teammates on the East Team at the East-West Shrine Game Saturday afternoon.

Garoppolo and Lora hooked up for two pass completions which helped the East team drive down the field in the second quarter and set up the game’s first touchdown as the East team led 13-6 at the half.  Lora would finish with two catches for 38 yards.

Garoppolo played primarily in the second quarter and finished the game 9-of-14 passing for 100 yards and one touchdown.  Garoppolo was named the offensive MVP of the game and will compete next week in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

The East won the game 23-13.  Ethan Westbrooks, a defensive tackle from Texas A&M, was named the defensive MVP.
