Bears Win Despite Weather Delay, NFL Roundup

Bears Outlast Weather, Ravens

(Chicago, IL) -- Robbie Gould nailed a 38-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Bears to a 23-20 win over the Ravens at Soldier Field. The game lasted over five hours due to a nearly two-hour weather delay. Josh McCown threw for 216 yards and a touchdown for Chicago, which improved to 6-4. Matt Forte rushed for 83 yards and had 42 receiving yards and the TD from McCown. Joe Flacco tossed for 162 yards to go with a TD and two picks, one of which was returned 24 yards for a touchdown. Ray Rice rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown for Baltimore, which dropped to 4-6.

 

Broncos Slug Past Chiefs, Regain AFC West Lead

(Denver, CO) -- Peyton Manning threw for 323 yards and a touchdown as the Broncos sealed a 27-17 win over the Chiefs, handing Kansas City its first loss of the season from Sports Authority Field in Denver. Manning says the offensive line was brilliant in this one. The victory evens each team's record at 9-and-1, but gives the Broncos the current edge in the AFC West with the head-to-head win. Knowshon Moreno ran for 79 yards while Montee Ball had two rushing TD's for Denver. Demaryius Thomas had five catches for 121 yards while Julius Thomas caught three balls for 43 yards and a score before departing with an injury. Alex Smith was 21-of-45 for 230 yards and two touchdowns and added 52 rushing yards while Jamaal Charles rushed for 78 yards for Kansas City. Dwayne Bowe and Anthony Fasano hauled in TD's in defeat.

 

Saints Slip Past 49ers

(New Orleans, LA) -- Garrett Hartley nailed three field goals over the final 7:53, including a 31-yarder as time expired, as the Saints slipped past the 49ers 23-20 at the Superdome. Saints head coach Sean Payton says they didn't let the stage get to them. Drew Brees finished 30-of-43 for 305 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Saints, who have won two in-a-row to improve to 8-2 on the season.  Jed Collins scored on the ground and Josh Hill had a TD catch in the win.  Colin Kaepernick was 17-of-31 for just 127 yards with two TD's and a pick for San Francisco, which fell to 6-4 with its second straight loss. Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis both had touchdown catches in defeat.

 

Bills Blast Jets

(Orchard Park, NY) -- EJ Manuel outplayed fellow rookie Geno Smith as the Bills blasted the Jets 37-14 at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Manuel finished 20-of-28 for 245 yards and two touchdowns for the Bills, who snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 4-and-7 on the season. Marquise Goodwin had six catches for 81 yards and a TD, while T.J. Graham had two grabs for 74 yards and a score in the victory. Da'Norris Searcy added a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown for Buffalo. Smith ended just 8-of-23 for 103 yards, three interceptions and a fumble for the Jets before being benched in the fourth quarter.  Chris Ivory ran for 98 yards and a touchdown as New York fell to 5-5.

 

Bengals Beat Browns

(Cincinnati, OH) -- Andy Dalton threw three touchdowns as the Bengals beat the Browns 41-20 at Paul Brown Stadium. Dalton finished 13-of-27 for just 93 yards and two interceptions. Tony Dye returned a blocked punt 24 yards for a touchdown and Vontaze Burfict had a 13-yard fumble return for a TD for the Bengals, who snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 7-4 on the season. Jason Campbell was 27-of-56 for 248 yards with a TD and three picks for Cleveland, which fell to 4-6. Josh Gordon had five catches for 125 yards including a 74-yard score, and Joe Haden had a "pick-six" in defeat.

 

Steelers Slam Lions

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- The Steelers scored 17 unanswered points in the second half to rally by the Lions 37-27 at Heinz Field. Ben Roethlisberger threw four touchdowns and 367 yards as Pittsburgh improved to 4-and-6 and 3-2 at home. Antonio Brown had seven catches for 147 yards and two TDs in the win. Matthew Stafford tossed for 362 yards, two scores and an interception for Detroit, which used a 27-point second quarter to take a 27-20 lead into the half. Calvin Johnson had six catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions, who slipped to 6-4 overall. Johnson was held without a catch in the second half.

 

Eagles Hold Off 'Skins For NFC East Lead

(Philadelphia, PA) -- The Eagles jumped out to a 24-0 lead and held on to beat the Redskins 24-16 to snap their 10-game home losing streak at Lincoln Financial Field. Nick Foles threw for 298 yards and ran for 47 yards and a touchdown. LeSean McCoy had 20 carries for 77 yards and two scores for the Eagles, who have won three in-a-row to take over sole possession of first place in the NFC East at 6-5. DeSean Jackson had four catches for 82 yards in the victory. Robert Griffin the Third was 17-of-35 for 264 yards with two touchdowns, but had an interception and a fumble as the 'Skins fell to 3-7. Griffin also had 44 yards on 10 carries, while Alfred Morris added 93 yards on 22 touches in the setback.

 

Bucs Blast Struggling Falcons

(Tampa, FL) -- Bobby Rainey ran for 163 yards and had three total touchdowns as the Buccaneers blasted the struggling Falcons 41-28 at Raymond James Stadium.  Mike Glennon finished 20-of-23 for 231 yards and two TD's for the Bucs, who have won two in-a-row after opening the season 0-8. Vincent Jackson had 10 catches for 165 yards and a score in the victory. Matt Ryan finished 19-of-36 for 254 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for Atlanta, which fell to 2-and-8 with its fourth straight loss. Harry Douglas had six catches for 134 yards and a TD in the setback.

 

Palmer Leads Cards Past Jaguars

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Carson Palmer threw for a season-high 419 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Cardinals to a 27-14 win over the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Michael Floyd had six catches for 193 yards including a 91-yard TD, while Larry Fitzgerald added six grabs for 61 yards and a score for Arizona, which improved to 6-4 with its third straight win. Rashard Mendenhall found the end zone despite being held to 14 yards on 13 carries.

 

Dolphins Bounce Back To Beat Bolts

(Miami, FL) -- Ryan Tannehill threw for 268 yards and a touchdown as the Dolphins bounced back with a 20-16 win over the Chargers at Sun Life Stadium.  Daniel Thomas had 10 carries for 57 yards and a TD, while Charles Clay had six catches for 90 yards and a score for the 5-5 'Fins, who lost to previously winless Tampa on "Monday Night Football" in Week 10. Philip Rivers finished 22-of-34 for 298 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Bolts, who fell to 4-6 with their third straight loss. Ryan Matthews ran for 127 yards and Antonio Gates had four catches for 52 yards and a score in the setback.

 

Raiders Nip Texans

(Houston, TX) -- Matt McGloin threw three touchdowns and 197 yards to guide the Raiders to a 28-23 win over the Texans in Houston. Rashad Jennings rushed for the eventual game-winning 80-yard touchdown late in the third quarter and ended with 150 yards on 22 carries for Oakland, which improved to 4-6 with its first road win. Rod Streater had six catches for 84 yards and a TD in the win. Case Keenum threw for 170 yards, a touchdown and an interception before being bench in favor of Matt Schaub, who threw for 155 yards. Garrett Graham had seven catches, 136 yards and a score while Andre Johnson hauled in 10 balls for 116 yards for Houston, which has lost eight straight to slip to 2-8.

 

Giants Top Packers For Fourth Straight Win

(East Rutherford, NJ) -- Eli Manning threw for 279 yards and a touchdown as the Giants topped the Packers 27-13 at MetLife Stadium. Victor Cruz had eight catches for 110 yards and Rueben Randle had the lone TD grab for the Giants, who have won four straight since starting the season 0-6. Brandon Jacobs scored on the ground and Jason Pierre-Paul had a 24-yard interception return for a touchdown in the victory. Scott Tolzien was 24-of-34 for 339 yards and three interceptions in his first career start for Green Bay. Eddie Lacy was held to 27 yards on 14 carries and had the only TD for the Packers, who slipped to 5-5 with their third consecutive loss.

 
Seahawks Blow Out Vikings

(Seattle, WA) -- The Seahawks ran their home winning streak to 13 games at CenturyLink Field with a 41-20 pasting of the Vikings. Marshawn Lynch ran for 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns and caught a third TD.  Russell Wilson threw only 18 passes but totaled 230 yards with two touchdowns. The game marked the return of offensive threat Percy Harvin, who played in his first game of the season but was limited.  The Seahawks defense recorded two sacks and three interceptions, one for a touchdown from Walter Thurmond the Third. Jarius Wright caught a pair of touchdown passes from Christian Ponder in the loss. Star running back Adrian Peterson was held to 65 yards on 21 carries. Seattle improved to 10-1 while Minnesota fell to 2-8.

Patriots Play Red Hot Panthers On "MNF"

(Raleigh, NC) -- The New England Patriots play the streaking Carolina Panthers on "Monday Night Football" at Bank of America Stadium. The Pats are well rested having been on their bye last weekend. New England has won its last two games and leads the AFC East at 7-2, two-and-a-half games ahead of the second-place Jets. The Patriots are a perfect 5-0 at home, but just 2-2 on the road. The Panthers have won five in-a-row following a 10-9 win over the 49ers in San Francisco last Sunday.  Carolina has overcome a 1-and-3 start to vault into second place in the NFC South at 6-and-3, one-and-a-half game behind the division-leading Saints. The Panthers haven't allowed more than 15 points during their winning streak and have given up the second-fewest points in the entire NFL this season with 115, just four more than the 9-0 Chiefs.

 

Rams Back To Work

(Earth City, MO) -- The Rams are back from their bye week. They host the Chicago Bears this Sunday. St. Louis is 4-6 on the season.  

 

Redskins' Williams Says Ump Cursed Him Out

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams isn't just upset at his team's loss to the Eagles on Sunday. Williams says an official cussed him out during a drive late in the first half. Williams is accusing umpire Roy Ellison of yelling obscenities at him, unprovoked. An NFL spokesman says the league will look into the matter.

 

Broncos' Del Rio Interviewed With USC

(Denver, CO) -- Denver Broncos interim head coach Jack Del Rio interviewed for the vacant job at USC during the team's recent bye week. The team confirmed the news on Sunday. Del Rio is a graduate of USC and has been considered a front-runner for the position. He is leading Denver in John Fox's absence.  The Trojans upset fourth-ranked Stanford on Saturday under direction of interim head coach Ed Orgeron, who is 5-1 since taking over for the fired Lane Kiffin.
