Bears Lose, Rams Win, NFL Roundup

Saints Beat Bears To Remain Perfect

(Chicago, IL) -- Drew Brees threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns as the Saints beat the Bears 26-18 at Soldier Field to remain perfect on the season. Brees completed 29-of-35 passes, while Pierre Thomas had nine catches for 55 yards and two TD's for the Saints, who improved to 5-and-0 on the season. Thomas also had 36 yards rushing and Jimmy Graham posted 10 grabs for 135 yards in the victory. Jay Cutler went 24-of-33 for 358 yards with two scores for the Bears, who have lost two in-a-row to dip to 3-2. Alshon Jeffery had 10 catches for 218 yards and a TD in the setback.

 

Rams Beat Jags

(St. Louis, MO) -- Sam Bradford threw three touchdown passes to lead the Rams to a 34-20 win over the Jaguars at the Edward Jones Dome. Bradford was 19-for-34 for 222 yards for the Rams, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Matt Giordano returned an interception 82-yards for a touchdown and Austin Pettis had four catches for 49 yards and two TD's for St. Louis. Blaine Gabbert threw for 181 yards and a touchdown, but left in the third quarter with a left hamstring injury. Chad Henne threw for 89 yards and a score. Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon each caught touchdown passes for the Jaguars, who are winless in five games this season.  It was Blackmon's first game back from suspension.

 

Bengals Hand Patriots First Loss

(Cincinnati, OH) -- BenJarvus Green-Ellis scored the lone touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Bengals beat the Patriots 13-6 at Paul Brown Stadium. Andy Dalton finished 20-of-27 for 212 yards, while Green-Ellis ended with 67 yards for the Bengals, who improved to 3-2. Tom Brady's streak of 52 straight games with a touchdown pass ended. He was 18-of-38 for 197 yards and an interception for the Pats, who fell to 4-1. LeGarrette Blount had 12 carries for 51 yards and Danny Amendola had four catches for 55 yards in defeat.

 

Ravens Edge Dolphins

(Miami, FL) -- Justin Tucker nailed a go-ahead 44-yard field goal with 1:42 to go as the Ravens edged the Dolphins 26-23 at Sun Life Stadium. Ray Rice had 27 carries for 74 yards and two touchdowns for the Ravens, who improved to 3-2. Joe Flacco finished 19-of-32 for 269 yards and an interception that was returned 25 yards by Reshad Jones that tied the game with just over eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.  Ryan Tannehill was 21-of-40 for 307 yards and a TD for Miami, which fell to 3-2 with its second straight loss. Mike Wallace had seven catches for 105 yards and Charles Clay had three grabs for 52 yards and a TD in the setback. Rookie Caleb Sturgis missed a 57-yard field goal in the final minute for the Dolphins.

 

Eagles Rally Past Hapless Giants

(East Rutherford, NJ) -- The Eagles lost quarterback Michael Vick to a left hamstring injury, but overpowered the Giants 36-21 at MetLife Stadium. The Giants dropped to 0-and-5 for the first time since 1987. Nick Foles replaced Vick and threw two touchdowns passes, one to Brent Celek and the other to DeSean Jackson. Foles threw for 197 yards on 16 of 25 passing. Alex Henery booted five field goals as Philly improved to 2-3. Eli Manning passed for 334 yards and two touchdowns but also threw three interceptions for the Giants.  Rueben Randle was on the receiving end of those touchdowns.

 

Packers Cruise Past Lions

(Green Bay, WI) -- Aaron Rodgers threw for 274 yards and a touchdown as the Packers cruised to a 22-9 win over the Lions at Lambeau Field. Eddie Lacy had 23 carries for 99 yards in his return from a concussion for the 2-and-2 Packers, who have won 23 straight over the Lions at home. James Jones had four catches for 127 yards including an 83-yard TD, while Mason Crosby nailed five field goals in the victory.  Matthew Stafford finished 25-of-40 for 262 yards and a score for the Lions, who fell to 3-2. Calvin Johnson missed the game with a knee injury. Kris Durham had the lone TD for Detroit with just over two minutes to go.

 

Chiefs Top Titans For 5-0 Start

(Nashville, TN) -- The Chiefs scored 13 unanswered points over the final six-plus minutes to pull out a 26-17 win over the Titans in Tennessee. Jamaal Charles had 22 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown for KC, which is 5-0 for the first time since opening 9-0 in 2003. Alex Smith finished 20-of-39 for 245 yards and an interception in the victory. Ryan Fitzpatrick went 21-for-41 for 247 yards with a TD and two interceptions for the Titans, who fell to 3-2. Fitzpatrick also scored on the ground and led the team with 50 yards rushing.  Chris Johnson had four catches for 63 yards and a TD, but was held to just 17 yards on 10 carries.

Colts Clip Seahawks

(Indianapolis, IN) -- The Colts scored the only 11 points of the fourth quarter on their way to a 34-28 win over the Seahawks at Lucas Oil Stadium.  T.Y. Hilton caught five passes for 140 yards and two scores as the Colts exposed one of the NFL's top defenses. Indianapolis knocked Seattle from the ranks of the NFL's undefeated. Both teams are now 4-1. Andrew Luck completed 16 of 29 passes for 229 yards and two TDs. Steven Hauschka kicked four field goals and the Seahawks got a safety in the loss. Both Marshawn Lynch and quarterback Russell Wilson rushed for 102 yards for Seattle.

Cards Cruise Past Panthers

(Glendale, AZ) -- The Cardinals scored 19 unanswered points in the second half en route to a 22-6 win over the Panthers at University of Phoenix Stadium. Carson Palmer finished 19-of-28 for 175 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions for the Cards, who improved to 3-2. Andre Ellington and Rashard Mendenhall combined for 95 yards on 24 carries in the victory. Cam Newton was 21-of-39 for 308 yards, but was picked off three times in the loss. DeAngelo Williams was held to just 39 yards on 12 carries for Carolina, which slipped to 1-3.

Broncos Beat Cowboys In Thriller

(Arlington, TX) -- Tony Romo's interception late in the fourth quarter led to a Matt Prater field goal as time expired to give the Broncos a 51-48 win over the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. Peyton Manning tossed his first pick of the season, but finished with 414 yards and four touchdowns for the Broncos, who remain undefeated at 5-0. Knowshon Moreno rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown, while Julius Thomas caught nine passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.  Romo threw for a career-high 506 yards and five touchdowns in for the Cowboys, who dropped their second game in-a-row to fall to 2-3. Dez Bryant caught six passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns. It was the third-highest scoring game in NFL history.

 

49ers Crush Texans

(San Francisco, CA) -- Matt Schaub's demise continued as the Texans were dominated by the 49ers 34-3 at Candlestick Park.  Schaub threw a pick-six to Tramaine Brock on his first pass and went on to toss two more interceptions. It was the fourth straight game Houston's quarterback has thrown an INT for a TD, which is an NFL record. Frank Gore ran for 81 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown, while Anthony Dixon also hit pay dirt on the ground from two-yards out for San Francisco. Colin Kaepernick connected with Vernon Davis for a 64-yard score to put an exclamation point on the win for the Niners, who moved to 3-2. T.J. Yates came in for Schaub in the fourth quarter and completed 3-of-5 passes for 15 yards. Arian Foster finished two yards short of the century mark on 21 carries. The Texans fell to 2-3.

 

Raiders Hold On To Beat Chargers

(Oakland, CA) -- Terrelle Pryor threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Raiders in a 27-17 win over the Chargers in Oakland.  Denarius Moore had five catches for 84 yards and a TD. Rod Streeter hauled in the other score as Oakland improved to 2-3. Charles Woodson returned a fumble 25 yards for a touchdown and had one of three Raiders' interceptions in the win.  Phillip Rivers tossed those three picks along with two touchdowns and tossed for 411 yards. Keenan Allen had six catches for 115 yards and a score while Vincent Brown made eight grabs for 117 yards. San Diego had five total turnovers and fell to 2-3.

 

Jets, Falcons Face Off In Atlanta

(Atlanta, GA) -- The New York Jets land at the Georgia Dome for "Monday Night Football" against the Atlanta Falcons.  The Jets come in at 2-and-2 but are 0-and-2 on the road.  New York has alternated wins and losses since opening up the season with an 18-17 win over the Buccaneers. Gang Green lost 38-13 at the Titans in Week Four. The Falcons are off to a disappointing 1-3 start to their season. Atlanta fell short against the Patriots last weekend, losing 30-23 at home. Atlanta's lone win came in Week Two against the Rams. The Falcons are 6-4 in the all-time season series, winning 10-7 in the last meeting between the two sides in 2009
