EHS JV Football Squad Blanks Salem

The Effingham junior varsity football team traveled to Salem and picked up a victory over the Wildcats Monday evening.

The Hearts defense was outstanding all night as the Hearts won 12-0. Effingham scored in the first and third quarters. Alex Howell scored from nine yards on an off tackle play. Then in the third quarter Joe Nieman connected with Brendan Apke on a pass from two yards out for the Hearts second and final score.

The defense was led by Alex Ramos with 12 tackles and two interceptions and Zach Koester also reached double digits in tackles with 10. Joe Nieman was 8 of 14 through the air for 156 yards. His favorite target was Blake White who caught 3 for 137 yards.

The Hearts record improves to 2-1 on the season and they return to action next Monday at home as they host Paris.
