Rams Close Preseason

(St. Louis, MO) -- The St. Louis Rams ended the preseason with a 1-3 record after their 24-21 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens at the Edward Jones Dome. Backup quarterback Kellen Clemens threw for 188 yards as the Rams rested many starters. The regular season begins on September 8 at home against the Arizona Cardinals.

Rams defensive end Chris Long missed Thursday's game with a right leg injury, the "St. Louis Post Dispatch" reports. Despite coach Jeff Fisher saying Long was fine he was held out. Long also missed the previous two preseason games.
 

NFL Preseason Ends

The 2013 NFL preseason is in the books. All 32 teams were in action last night. The Cleveland Browns dismissed the Chicago Bears, 18-16. The Kansas City Chiefs dumped the Green Bay Packers, 30-8. The Minnesota Vikings snuck by the Tennessee Titans, 24-23.

Tim Tebow threw a pair of touchdown passes in New England's 28-20 win over the New York Giants. Washington and Seattle were the only two teams to go undefeated in preseason play. The 'Skins beat the Buccaneers 30-12, while the Seahawks cruised past the Raiders 22-6.

 

NFL Players Reach Concussion Suit Settlement

(New York, NY) -- The NFL is reaching a $765-million settlement with thousands of former players over concussions.  Under the agreement, the NFL and NFL Properties will contribute $765-million to provide medical benefits and injury compensation for more than 4,500 retired NFL football players or their families. It will also fund medical and safety research, and cover legal expenses.

 

Man Falls At Broncos-Cardinals Game In Denver

(Denver, CO) -- A fan is in the hospital after falling on an escalator at the Denver Broncos preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals last night at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Police say the man was conscious and talking when he was transported to a local hospital. The Cardinals went on to win the game, 32-24.

 

Giants' Brown Breaks Left Leg

(Foxboro, MA) -- New York Giants running back Andre Brown is out indefinitely with a fractured left leg. Brown suffered the injury in New York's 28-20 loss at New England in the preseason finale for both teams on Thursday. It's the same leg he fractured last November. Brown had been serving as the main backup to David Wilson, who will now see an increased role on offense.

 

College Football Season Kicks Off

The 2013 college football is underway. The seventh-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks knocked off North Carolina 27-10 in Columbia last night in a game delayed nearly two hours due to lightning. USC was the only other ranked team in action. The 24th-ranked Trojans overcame a sluggish first quarter to defeat Hawaii 30-13 in Honolulu.
