Broncos' Miller Facing Possible Suspension

(Denver, CO) -- Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller could be facing a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. ESPN reports that the nature of the violation is unknown and that Miller will appeal. He denies any wrongdoing and posted on Twitter that the issue will be resolved fairly. Miller had a breakout year last season, posting more than 18 sacks for the team.

 

Eric Wright Fails Physical, Sent Back To Bucs

(San Francisco, CA) -- A trade that would have sent Eric Wright from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the San Francisco 49ers is no more. The cornerback failed his physical with San Francisco, leaving the deal null and void. Wright will head back to the Bucs and the Niners will get back the conditional 2014 draft pick they had sent to Tampa Bay. NFL Network reports that Tampa Bay will release the corner, who was arrested for DUI earlier this month and could face a league suspension.

 

Geno Smith Signs Jets Contract

(Florham Park, NJ) -- The possible replacement for New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is officially in the fold. The Jets have signed second-round pick Geno Smith, just three days before the full squad reports to training camp in Cortland, New York. Smith is expected to compete with Sanchez for the starting role this season. The Jets selected the West Virginia product with the 39th overall pick in April.

 

OSU RB Hyde Suspended, Not Dismissed

(Columbus, OH) -- The Ohio State Buckeyes are suspending running back Carlos Hyde, contrary to earlier reports. The Buckeyes announced Hyde has been suspended from all football team activities pending the outcome of student code of conduct and criminal investigations. The "Columbus Dispatch" reported earlier Monday that he had been dismissed from the team. The paper said he was named as a person of interest in a weekend assault against a female at a bar in Columbus.
