The Effingham Hearts will look to turn around their fortunes in this young football season Friday night, heading to Charleston to take on the Trojans.

The Apollo Conference clash will be heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com. Kickoff is at 7pm, with pre-game coverage at 6:45pm.

Effingham has had a rough start, falling 42-7 to St. Teresa in Decatur in Week One, then losing their home opener and conference opener 37-7 last week to Mahomet-Seymour.

It might be worth noting that both of the Hearts' first two opponents remain undefeated. In Charleston, Effingham will square off against a team that won Week One by forfeit over COVID-laden Robinson, then lost to Lincoln, 14-6, as the Railers are 2-0 for the first time in almost 20 years.

Effingham is working to give quarterback Tanner Pontious more time to execute the offense, both passing and running the ball. The Hearts have been badly outgained in yardage in the first two contests.
