Charges Dropped Against Kraft

Florida prosecutors Thursday dropped a misdemeanor charge against New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft after courts ruled they couldn’t use video at trial that allegedly shows him paying for sex at a massage parlor in 2019. Kraft pled not guilty, but publicly apologized.

The Florida 4th District Court of Appeal said last month that police in Jupiter, Florida, violated the rights of Kraft and other customers of the Orchids of Asia Day Spa who were allegedly recorded paying for sex when they secretly installed video cameras inside massage rooms.

Pac-12 Will Play Football

The Pac-12 has reversed its August decision not to play football this fall because of the coronavirus pandemic and Thursday announced an abbreviated seven-game season that will begin on November 6. The move comes after the Big Ten earlier reversed its decision to postpone football until after the fall. Several hours later Thursday, the Mountain West announced it will begin play on October 24 with an eight-game slate. The only holdout of the 10 FBS conferences is the Mid-American Conference, and it could also reverse its postponement as early as today.

Tristen Hoge Now Has Pneumonia

Brigham Young University offensive lineman Tristen Hoge now has pneumonia after contracting Covid-19, his father, Marty Hoge, said in a Twitter video.
Hoge, who’s been a starter for BYU, was one of several players on the team who tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this month. He was able to return to practice this week after ending his required isolation, but, according to his father, he didn’t feel well after his first practice. Testing showed that he has pneumonia, with his father saying, “[I]t’s affected his lungs severely. Luckily enough, there’s no fluid in his heart.”
