Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers, who was known not just for his play but his friendship with dying Chicago Bears teammate Brian Piccolo, died Wednesday at 77.

Sayers’ stellar career, which included a National Football League record-tying six-touchdown game and 22 touchdowns as a rookie got him into the Hall even though it was cut short by knee injuries.

He played seven seasons, all with the Bears, and at age 34 in 1977 became the youngest player inducted into the Hall. His friendship with Piccolo was depicted in the film, ‘Brian’s Song.’

Chargers' Doctor Punctures Taylor's Lung

A Los Angeles Chargers team doctor accidentally punctured quarterback Tyrod Taylor's lung, leading him to miss last Sunday's game, according to media reports Wednesday.

Coach Anthony Lynn said Taylor is still not 100 percent yet and rookie Justin Herbert will start again on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. The doctor reportedly punctured Taylor’s lung when he was trying to give him an injection in his ribs.
