The Washington Redskins are removing founder and former owner George Preston Marshall from their Ring of Fame, the history wall at Redskins Park, and removing all references to him on their website.

Marshall was a segregationist who refused to sign black players until forced to in 1962, more than a decade after most of the rest of the NFL.

Marshall, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963, owned the franchise from its founding in 1932 until his death in 1969.
