EHS Tied For Eighth in Class 4A Football Poll

Effingham High School is tied for eighth place in the Class 4A State Football Poll.

The Heartsopened the season with two victories, beating Breese Mater Dei 32-28 in a game that took a Friday and a Saturday to complete because of weather, and downing Lincoln last Friday night in the home opener, 46-7. Next up is Jerseyville Jersey this Friday on the road.

IC Catholic is atop the Class 4A poll with 13 first place votes and 139 points. The Hearts have 40 points.

Williamsville leads the Class 3A state poll with a 2-0 record, 143 points and 10 first place votes.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley sits atop the poll in Class 2A with 12 first place votes, a 2-0 record and 135 points.

Meanwhille, Forreston is on top of the Class 1A poll with seven first place votes and 104 points.
