Coming off one of their best ever seasons, the 2019 schedule for the Effingham Hearts football team has been released by the IHSA.

Effingham went 9-3 last season and advanced to the third round of the playoffs for the first time since 1987.

The Hearts will miss the play of 12 graduated seniors, but plenty of ammunition is returning to indicate it should be another fun season.

Effingham will face two new opponents. Jerseyville replaces Macomb on the schedule, while Freeburg replaces Carterville.

Here's the schedule:

August 30--at Breese Mater Dei

September 6--Lincoln (Apollo Conference opener)

September 13--at Jerseyville

September 20--Mahomet-Seymour (conference game)

September 27--at Charleston (conference game)

October 4--Mattoon (conference game)

October 11--at Taylorville (conference game)

October 18--at Mt. Zion (conference game)

October 25--Freeburg

Worth noting, the conference schedule is much different as key battles with Taylorville and Mt. Zion will come later in the season. Also this will be a four home game season, with five games on the road.

We will again broadcast each game of Hearts football on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com
