Effingham High School's freshman/sophomore football squad handed Olney a 38-16 defeat.

The Hearts took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter on an eight-yard run by Keegan Baker. The point after was a run by Baker.

EHS pushed that to 16-0 at halftime as Gabe Kihne plunged across from two yards out. Dalton Fox connected with Noah Jones for the point after.

Kihne hit Jones again, this time in the third quarter on a six yard pass for a touchdown. Damon Kalber ran the extra point.

Olney scored on a three yard pass in the final period. Kihne went 59 yards for a score and Baker ran 60 yards with Kalber getting the point after on a run. Olney finished out with a 76 yard run.

Jones went seven of 12 passing for 66 yards, one touchdown and was intercepted twice.

Baker had 15 carries for 109 yards and two touchdowns, Kihne eight carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Edgar Castillo had three carries for 15 yards, Kalber six for 13, Jones four for 13 and Mitchell Strohl four for three.

Joe Matteson pulled in two passes for 24 yards,  Castillo one for 10, Kihne two for 11 and a touchdown, Trevon Benavides one for 17 and Kalen Reardon one for four.

Jakob Logan had two kickoff returns for 52 yards and Holden Lewis one for 23.

Tackles included: Chase Woomer 8, Castillo 5, Chase Mathis 5, Gunner Franklin 5, Lewis 4, Jordan Elsasser 4, Max Nelson 4, Logan 3, Eric McGregor 3 and two blocked punts.
