As had been feared, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is done for season with a torn ACL. The injury forces the 49ers to turn to backup C.J. Beathard.


Brown's Mayfield Named Starter

The Cleveland Browns have named Baker Mayfield as their new starter after leading the team to its first win in over a year last week. Mayfield becomes the 30th starting quarterback in Brown’s franchise history.


Dolphins' Hayes Done For Season

Miami Dolphins defensive lineman William Hayes is done for the season with a torn ACL. Hayes was injured when he attempted to avoid landing directly on Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr after sacking him in an effort to avoid the new 15-yard penalty for landing on a quarterback after a hit.


Jets Contact Steelers

The New York Jets have reportedly contacted the Pittsburgh Steelers regarding holdout Le'Veon Bell. However, the call was described as preliminary and no offer was made.


Rams' Talib, Peters Injured

The Los Angeles Rams could be without starting cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters for Thursday’s game against Minnesota. Talib was the most seriously injured as he may need surgery and could be out indefinitely.
