With most of their key players watching from the sideline, it will be difficult if not impossible for the Chicago Bears to draw any meaningful conclusions from Thursday night's pre-season-opening Hall of Fame Game.

But there were certainly positives in a 17-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, especially for a team that's determined to generate more touchdowns and takeaways this season.

The Bears produced one of each early as safety DeAndre Houston-Carson's interception set up Chase Daniels' four-yard TD pass to fullback Michael Burton.

 

Patriots Sign Decker

The New England Patriots have reportedly signed veteran wide receiver Eric Decker to a one-year contract.


Titan's Cyprien Tears ACL

Tennessee Titans starting safety Johnathan Cyprien has a torn ACL and is done for the season. Kendrick Lewis is likely to take Cyprien's spot, although the team may look at some free agents.


New Report on Deflategate

A new report says Tom Brady could’ve avoided his Deflategate suspension. Brady supposedly offered to pay a $1 million fine, but the NFL also wanted him to blame former Patriots equipment managers John Jastremski and Jim McNally, but he refused to throw them under the bus.


NFL Network's Broadcast Team Has New Lineup

The NFL Network's game-day broadcast team will have a new lineup this season as Marshall Faulk, Heath Evans and Ike Taylor are all reportedly out. They were suspended last year after a female employee claimed they were among those at the network who groped and harassed her.


College Coaches Poll Out

The pre-season Amway Coaches Poll is out and Alabama came out on top for the third consecutive season and the fifth time since 2010. The rest of the top 10 were: 2. Clemson; 3. Ohio State; 4. Georgia; 5. Oklahoma; 6. Washington; 7. Wisconsin; 8. Miami (Fla.); 9. Penn State; 10. Auburn.


More Trouble for Urban Meyer

There may be more trouble for Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, who’s already been placed on administrative leave while they investigate whether he knew about domestic violence allegations against a member of his staff. It’s now reported that Meyer is also being investigated for mistreatment of players.
