EIU Football Remains Among Teams Receiving Top 25 Votes

Eastern Illinois football picked up its fourth victory of the season on Saturday night as the Panthers moved to 4-2 overall, 3-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 24-23 win over Tennessee Tech on Hall of Fame weekend.

On Monday EIU continued to remain among the FCS teams also receiving votes in both Top 25 polls as the Panthers prepare to play at Murray State this Saturday at 3 p.m.

EIU was the ninth team (34th overall) also receiving votes in the STATS Media FCS Top 25 poll with the Panthers the 14th team (39th overall) also receiving votes in the FCS Coaches Top 25 rankings.

The top ten teams in both polls lined up this week with James Madison ranked first in the nation followed by North Dakota State, Jacksonville State, South Dakota, Wofford, Central Arkansas, South Dakota State, Youngstown State, Sam Houston State and Eastern Washington.  In the FCS Coaches Top 25 poll, Sam Houston State and Eastern Washington were both tied for ninth in the rankings.

North Carolina A&T, one of only six remaining unbeaten FCS teams, was ranked 11th in the FCS Coaches Top 25 followed by New Hampshire, Richmond, Villanova, Illinois State, Weber State, Western Illinois, Samford, Grambling State and Elon in the top twenty.  McNeese State, The Citadel, Nicholls, Northern Arizona and Western Carolina rounded out the top 25.

In the STATS Media FCS Top 25 Villanova was ranked 11th followed by New Hampshire, Richmond, Western Illinois and North Carolina A&T in the top 15.  Elon was ranked 16th with Illinois State, Weber State, Samford, Grambling State, Western Carolina, McNeese State, The Citadel, Montana and North Carolina Central the final ranked schools.
