EHS Drops Freshman Football Game to Jerseyville

Jerseyville tallied a 30-24 win over Effingham in freshman football action Saturday.

Jerseyville held a 6-0 first quarter lead then scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 22-8 at halftime.

Effingham came back with a 16-8 third quarter but neither team scored in the final period.

Leading the Hearts offensively were Nathan Shackelford with 13 of 25 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown. Logan Brown had 19 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown. Cameron Kalber had nine receptions for 92 yards. Mason Hasty had a 21 yard touchdown reception.

Defensive leaders were Luke Spencer with 12 tackles, Trenton Tuttle with seven tackles and one sack, Hasty with five tackles and Dawson Whitten with four tackles.
