Effingham's Drew Vasquez Named to Coaches Association All-State Team; Newton, Shelbyville Athletes Also Honored

Effingham High School senior Drew Vasquez has been named to the Illinois Football Coaches Association All-State Team.

Vasquez, a two-way standout for the football Hearts again this past season, was named to the Class 4A team. While serving as one of the Hearts' top running backs this season, he was named to the All-State Team for his work as a defensive back.

Two Newton Eagles were named to the State 3A Team. Record-setting running back Mitch Bierman and offensive tackle BoDee Steber, both received All-State honors.

In Class 2A, Shelbyville running back Garrett Brachbill received All-State honors.
