EHS Downs M-S In Frosh/Soph Football

Effingham High School's freshman/sophomore football team downed Mahomet-Seymour 28-20 in overtime Saturday.

The Hearts tallied eight points in the second quarter to lead 8-0 at halftime. EHS came back with a touchdown in the third period to lead 14-0. But Mahomet-Seymour scored two touchdowns in the final quarter to tie the score at 14-14.

In the overtime period, the Hearts outscored M-S 8-6.

Tyler Marschewski had 17 carries for 80 yards. Kendall Ballman had 17 carries and scored three touchdowns. Lucas Vasquez had six carries for eight yards and two, two-point conversions.

Jacob Miller pulled in two passes for 17 yards.

Leading tacklers were Braden Hastey with 13, Alec Morrisey with seven and Hayden Dively with seven.
