Effingham took an 8-6 lead into halftime of its junior varsity football game against Mount Zion Monday evening and still led 16-12 going into the final quarter.

But the Braves came back with a 14-0 final quarter run to beat the Hearts 26-16.

Lucas Vasquez picked up 59 yards passing with one touchdown and 26 yards rushing with another touchdown. Tyler Marschewski had 13 carries for 35 yards. Kendall Ballman had 13 carries for 60 yards. Dylan Bushur had three catches for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Defensive leaders for the Hearts were Alec Morrissey with seven tackles, Hayden Diveley with six tackles and Braden Hasty with six tackles.
