EIU's Fanti Named Second Team Preseason All-American

WASHINGTON, NEW JERSEY – Eastern Illinois senior defensive tackle Dino Fanti has been named a second team preseason All-American by FootballGamePlan.com as the internet site unveiled its preseason All-American. Fanti is one of four Ohio Valley Conference players represented on the preseason list.

Fanti was named to the preseason All-OVC team this past Monday at the OVC Football Media Day in Nashville. Fanti has earned second team All-OVC honors each of the last two seasons. Last year he led EIU with 15.5 tackles for loss which ranked third in the OVC and 43rd in the NCAA. He finished the season with 64 tackles, two forced fumbles and a pass break-up.

EIU opens fall camp on August 5 with the regular season opener on Sept. 3 at Western Illinois. Following a road game on Sept. 12 at Northwestern, EIU will open the home portion of its schedule on Sept. 19 against Illinois State.
