Effingham Co. Storm To Host First Round of Football Playoffs

The Effingham County Storm beat Twin City Jets 20-12 in football action in Bloomington Sunday.

The victory gives the Storm a first round home playoff game. The Storm will play host to the Illinois Thundercats Sunday at 2 p.m. at the field behind the former YMCA building on Wenthe Drive.

The Storm fell behind early as the Jets took an early 6-0 lead. The Storm scored and then completed a two-point conversion to move ahead 8-6 and then scored again to move in front 14-6. The Jets scored before halftime, but again failed on their conversion to move within 14-12 at halftime, but the Storm shutout the Jets in the second half. A third quarter Storm touchdown provided the final margin of victory.

The Storm finished the regular season with a 6-2 record and won their division.
