Effingham Junior Hearts Sweep All Four Games

The Effingham Junior Hearts football teams swept all four games Saturday from Mount Zion.

In the fifth-grade contest, Effingham was a 30-0 winner. Elder led in rushing with two carries for 35 yards and a touchdown. Siner hit six of eight passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Brown pulled in two passes for 68 yards and a touchdown while Elder caught one pass for 13 yards and a touchdown and Wolfe had one for 90 yards and a touchdown.

In sixth-grade action, Effingham blanked Mount Zion 44-0. Ballman had seven carries for 148 yards while Reynolds had five carries for 146 yards. Wolfe connected on seven of 10 passes for 121 yards. Reynolds pulled in three of those passes for 47 yards.

The seventh-grade contest went to Effingham 40-6. Vasquez had six rushes for 42 yards and a touchdown. Hill had 10 carries for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Robinson had six carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. Marschewski had seven carries for 42 yards.

Vasquez hit four of eight passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Pulling in those touchdowns were Maroon and Pocrnich.

The eighth-grade Junior Hearts edged Mount Zion 28-26. Walk had six carries for 28 yards and a touchdown. Wolfe hit 10 of 16 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Pass receiving touchdowns came from Walk with six for 112 yards and two touchdowns and Koenig with two for 44 yards and a touchdown.
