Illini Bringing Back Beckham, Body of OSU Player Found

(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois has announced that head football coach Tim Beckham will be back next season. The announcement came a day after the Illini beat Northwestern 47-33 on Saturday. At 6-6, the Illini are bowl eligible for the first time since 2011.


Body Of Missing OSU Football Player Found

(Columbus, OH) -- The body of missing Ohio State football player Kosta Karageorge has been found. Police in Columbus announced Sunday that his body was discovered in the University District less than a mile away from his apartment. Police say he died from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was found in a dumpster with a gun. Karageorge hadn't been seen since leaving the apartment early Wednesday morning. Family members say he had a history of sports-related concussions. He was only 22 years old.

 

College Football Top 25

College football's championship week is here. Second-ranked Oregon plays 11th-ranked Arizona for the Pac-12 title Friday in a rematch of the Ducks' only loss of the season. The game is at Levi's Stadium, home of the NFL's 49ers. On Saturday, top-ranked Alabama faces number-17 Missouri for the SEC crown from Atlanta. Third-ranked Florida State looks to stay undefeated against 16th-ranked Georgia Tech in the ACC title game from Charlotte. The Big Ten championship game from Indianapolis features sixth-ranked Ohio State and 14th-ranked Wisconsin. The Mountain West and Conference USA title games are also on Saturday.  The Big 12 championship is on the line as well despite no conference title game.

Missouri is set for a showdown with Alabama in the SEC title game on Saturday. Mizzou is the SEC East champion while 'Bama comes in winners of the West Division. Meanwhile, Illinois will wait to learn its bowl fate after becoming bowl eligible with a win over Northwestern over the weekend.
