EHS Players Named to All-Apollo Football Teams

Named to the All-Apollo Conference football team were, left to right, Michael Carie, Kevin Daugherty, Carter Hayes, Travis Durbin, Evan Boggs, Zach Miller, Drew Vasquez, Wyatt Kahley, Billy Arndt and Khole Moran.

Three Effingham High School football players were named to the All-Apollo Conference First Team on offense and three were named to the First Team on defense.

Evan Boggs, 6-foot-6, 330-pound senior, was named a lineman on the offensive team. Zach Miller, a 6-foot, 200-pound senior, was named running back and Billy Arndt, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior, was also named on the First Team as a running back.

Other First Team members were Taylorville's Thomas Snyder (lineman), Donnie Fallin (lineman) and Tanner Champley (quarterback); Mount Zion's Ryan Schafer (lineman), Tyler Hayes (running back), Austin Thacker (receiver), Mason Bruce (receiver) and Payton Grinestaff (quarterback); Mattoon's Andy Vieth (lineman) and Malik Joyner (receiver).

Boggs, Miller, Snyder, Fallin and Joyner were all unanimous choices.

On the First Team on defense were Effingham's Arndt for lineman, Travis Durbin, a 6-foot, 190-pound senior for linebacker and Michael Carie, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound senior for defensive back.

Also named to the team were Taylorville's Snyder (lineman), Tucker May (lineman), Brett Langen (linebacker) and David Gideon (defensive back); Mount Zion's Scharf (linebacker) and Josh Carnahan (defensive back) and Mattoon's Vieth (lineman), Jacob Harris (linebacker) and Payton Hartbank (defensive back).

Effingham's Khole Moran was named to the Second Team Offense. Moran, a 6-foot, 254-pound senior, was named as a lineman.

Named to the Second Team on Defense were Boggs for lineman, Carter Hayes, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound senior (lineman) and Drew Vasquez, a 5-foot-6, 160-pound junior (defensive back).

Honorable Mention went to Wyatt Kahley, 6-foot-1, 195-pound senior, on offense and Kevin Daugherty, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound senior on defensve.

Other players named to the Second Team Offense were Taylorville's Elliot Hogge (lineman) and Bo Buschon (running back); Charleston's Keaton Halsey (lineman); Mount Zion's Cody Emberton (lineman) and Max Gensler (receiver); Mattoon's Luke Collings (lineman), Germaine Armstrong (running back), Joey Allee (running back) and Hartbank (receiver) and Salem's Triston Holmes (receiver).

Honorable Mention on offense went to Jacob Huss (Charleston), Jacob Wagner (Mattoon), Cole Fletcher (Mount Zion), Brandon Moody (Taylorville) and Hunter Bookhout (Salem).

Others named to the Second Team Defense were Charleston's Trevor Gibson (lineman) and Forrest Rotramel (linebacker); Salem's Alex Hawkins (lineman), Coleton Harness (linebacker) and Triston Holmes (defensive back); Taylorville's Keane Rogers (linebacker) and Colton Wilderman (Ilinebacker); Mattoon's Germanine Armstrong (linebacker) and Joyner (defensive back) and Mount Zion's Austin Thacker (defensive back).

Honorable Mention on defense went to Cole Hoover (Chalreston), Josh Evans (Mattoon), Peyton Chappel (Mount Zion), Sid Wright (Taylorville) and Dakota McDonald (Salem).
