Bears Cut WR Holmes

(Lake Forest, IL) -- The Bears have parted ways with wide receiver Santonio Holmes. The former Super Bowl MVP signed a one-year contract with the Bears in August. Holmes managed just eight catches for 67 yards in nine games. The nine-year veteran became expendable with fellow wideout Marquess Wilson ready to be activated from the injured reserve/designated to return list.


Rams Prepare For Peyton, Broncos

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Rams return to the practice field today as they prepare for Sunday's home game against Peyton Manning and the Broncos. The Rams are back home after three straight road games, in which they went 1-2. The Rams are 3-6 overall. Denver leads the AFC West at 7-2.

Despite a rough finish in Arizona, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher says Austin Davis will remain the starting quarterback. Davis was just 6-of-16 for 70 yards, two interceptions and a fumble in the final 15 minutes of Sunday's 31-14 loss to the Cardinals. Shaun Hill began the season as the starter.


49ers' Willis Out For Season With Toe Injury

(Santa Clara, CA) -- The San Francisco 49ers will play the rest of the year without star linebacker Patrick Willis. Multiple reports say he will have surgery on his strained left big toe and is out for the season. The seven-time Pro Bowl selection had already missed the previous three games after injuring the toe against the St. Louis Rams in Week Six. Rookie Chris Borland has filled in during Willis' absence. The 5-4 49ers play at the 3-6 Giants this Sunday.


Cardinals Place Palmer On IR

(Tempe, AZ) -- The season is officially over for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer. The team has placed Palmer on season-ending injured reserve with a torn ACL in his left knee. Arizona signed quarterback Ryan Lindley from the San Diego Chargers' practice squad. Lindley spent two season with the Cardinals after being selected in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of San Diego State. He was cut by Arizona during training camp.  


Jaguars Lose Allen Robinson For Rest Of Season

(Jacksonville, FL) -- The season is over for Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wide receiver Allen Robinson. The first-year pass catcher is out for the remainder of the year with a stress fracture in his foot. The Penn State product was hurt in the Jags' loss to the Dallas Cowboys Sunday in London. Robinson had 48 catches for 548 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games this season.


Seahawks' Mebane Out For Season With Torn Hamstring

(Renton, WA) -- The Seattle Seahawks will play the rest of the season without nose tackle Brandon Mebane. FoxSports.com reports he is out for the year with a torn hamstring. Mebane was hurt in Sunday's win over the New York Giants. Head coach Pete Carroll said on Monday that the injury was significant and Mebane would be out a while, but didn't specify how long. The 29-year-old is in his ninth season with Seattle.
