Bears Bounce Back Against Niners

(Santa Clara, CA)  --  The 49ers jumped out to a 17-0 lead, but it wasn't enough as the Bears stormed back for a 28-20 win in the opener at Levi's Stadium.  Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall hooked up for three touchdowns. Cutler threw four total including the go-ahead score to tight end Martellus Bennett with 13:14 left in the fourth quarter. Rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller picked off Colin Kaepernick twice. Chicago bounced back from a Week One loss to the Bills and evened up its record at one. Kaepernick had three interceptions and lost a fumble. Frank Gore ran for 63 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown. The 49ers are also 1-1.

The Bears will have an extra day to prepare for their next contest. Chicago travels to MetLife Stadium a week from today to face the New York Jets on "Monday Night Football." The Jets are off to a 1-1 start after a loss Sunday to the Packers in Green Bay.  


Rams Rally Past Bucs

(Tampa, FL) -- Greg Zuerlein nailed a go-ahead 38-yard field goal with 38 seconds left to lift the Rams past the Buccaneers 19-17 at Raymond James Stadium. Zuerlein made all four of his field goal attempts and Austin Davis finished 22-of-29 for 235 yards in his first career start. Zac Stacy had 71 yards on the ground and the lone touchdown for St. Louis, which bounced back from a 34-6 season-opening home loss to Minnesota. Bobby Rainey rumbled for 144 yards on 22 carries and quarterback Josh McCown had a pair of rushing scores for the Bucs, who have dropped two straight at home to begin the year. McCown was 16-of-21 for 179 yards and an interception in defeat.

The Rams have locked up one of their key defenders with a long-term contract. Defensive end Robert Quinn has signed a four-year contract extension through 2019  He is now due to make 65.5-million over the next six years, with more than 41-million in guaranteed money.


Bills Handle Dolphins, Get To 2-0

(Buffalo, NY) -- C.J. Spiller returned a kickoff 102 yards for a touchdown to spark the Bills in a 29-10 win over the Dolphins at Ralph Wilson Stadium.  Spiller added 69 rushing yards while Dan Carpenter made five field goals. E.J. Manuel threw for 202 yards and a touchdown to Sammy Watkins, who ended with eight grabs for 117 yards. Buffalo moved to 2-and-0 on the season. Ryan Tannehill passed for 241 yards with a touchdown and interception for Miami. Lamar Miller ran for 46 yards after Knowshon Moreno left early with an injury. Mike Wallace had five grabs for 56 yards and a touchdown as the Dolphins fell to 1-1.


Redskins Lose RG3, Still Beat Up Jaguars

(Landover, MD) -- Kirk Cousins took over for an injured Robert Griffin the Third and led the Redskins in a 41-10 beat down of the Jaguars at FedEx Field.  RG3 suffered an ankle injury early in the game and had to be carted off. Cousins finished 22-of-33 with 250 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Alfred Morris ran for 85 yards and two touchdowns while Silas Redd added a rushing score. Niles Paul made eight catches for 99 yards and a TD as Washington moved to 1-1. Chad Henne threw for 193 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Jacksonville, which ran the ball just 10 times for 25 yards. Allen Robinson made four catches for 75 yards while Marcedes Lewis had two grabs for 71 yards and a TD. The Jags fell to 0-2.


Cowboys Ride Past Titans

(Nashville, TN) -- DeMarco Murray ran for 167 yards on career-high 29 carries with a touchdown as the Cowboys pounded the Titans 26-10 at LP Field. Tony Romo threw for 176 yards with a touchdown to Dez Bryant, who finished with 10 catches for 103 yards. Dan Bailey drilled all four of his field goal tries as Dallas improved to 1-1. Jake Locker was intercepted twice and finished with 234 passing yards and a touchdown to Delanie Walker, who made 10 grabs for 142 yards. Shonn Greene had 40 yards on five carries while Dexter McCluster added 30 yards on four carries for Tennessee, which fell to 1-1.


Stanton, Cardinals Get Past Giants

(East Rutherford, NJ) -- Drew Stanton took over for an injured Carson Palmer and led the Cardinals to a 25-14 win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium.  Stanton was 14-of-29 for 167 yards while Andre Ellington ran for 91 yards. Ted Ginn Jr. returned a punt 71 yards for a TD while Chandler Catanzaro made all four of his field goal attempts. Arizona forced four turnovers on its way to a 2-0 record. Eli Manning threw two interceptions while passing for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Larry Donnell caught seven passes for 81 yards while Rashad Jennings ran for 64 yards, but lost a key fumble late in the game. New York fell to 0-2 with the defeat.


Patriots Throttle Peterson-less Vikings

(Minneapolis, MN) -- Stevan Ridley ran for 101 yards with a touchdown as the Patriots cruised to a 30-7 win over the Vikings at TCF Bank Stadium. Tom Brady threw for 149 yards and a touchdown to Julian Edelman, who finished with six catches for 81 yards. New England's defense forced four turnovers and blocked a field goal late in the first half which was returned 58 yards by Chandler Jones for a TD  The Patriots moved to 1-1. Matt Asiata ran for 36 yards in place of Adrian Peterson, who was not active after his arrest for accusations of child abuse. Asiata did have five catches for 48 yards and a touchdown while Matt Cassel threw for 202 yards with the score and four interceptions. Minnesota fell to 1-1 with the loss.


Browns Storm Back To Top Saints

(Cleveland, OH) -- Billy Cundiff booted a 29-yard field goal with three seconds to play, lifting the Browns in a 26-24 win over the Saints at FirstEnergy Stadium. Brian Hoyer drove Cleveland from deep in its own territory for the winning score. Hoyer finished 24-of-40 with 204 yards and a touchdown while Johnny Manziel saw his first action of the season but was just 0-for-1 passing. Terrance West led the way with 68 yards and a touchdown on the ground for Cleveland, which improved to 1-1. Tashaun Gipson intercepted Drew Brees and took it 62 yards for a TD in the win. Brees ended with 237 yards and two touchdowns in addition to the INT. Jimmy Graham caught ten balls for 118 yards and both TDs while Mark Ingram ran for 83 yards and a score. New Orleans dipped to 0-2 with the loss.


Bengals Hold Down Ryan, Falcons

(Cincinnati, OH) -- Giovani Bernard ran for 90 yards with a touchdown as the Bengals turned away the Falcons 24-10 at Paul Brown Stadium. Bernard added five catches for 79 yards while Mohamed Sanu made three catches for 84 yards and a touchdown.  Sanu also threw a 50-yard pass as A.J. Green departed early in the game with a toe injury for Cincinnati. Andy Dalton was 15-of-23 for 252 yards and a TD while rookie Jeremy Hill added 74 yards and a score on the ground.  Cincinnati improved to 2-0 while forcing three Matt Ryan interceptions on defense. Ryan finished 24-of-44 for 231 yards with a touchdown and the three picks.  Julio Jones made seven catches for 88 yards and a score while Steven Jackson ran for 46 yards as Atlanta fell to 1-1.


Newton Leads Panthers Past Lions

(Charlotte, NC) -- Cam Newton returned after a Week One absence to throw for 281 yards and a touchdown as the Panthers dropped the Lions 24-7 at Bank of America Stadium. Carolina's defense forced three turnovers on its way to a 2-0 record.  Greg Olson made six catches for 72 yards while Jason Avant hauled in a touchdown. Jonathan Stewart also scored on the ground for the Panthers, who decided to deactivate defensive end Greg Hardy prior to the game. Hardy is dealing with a domestic violence case, though Carolina had previously stated intentions to let him play. Matthew Stafford threw for 291 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Detroit. Calvin Johnson made six grabs for 83 yards while Jed Collins grabbed a score as the Lions dipped to 1-1.


Chargers Drop Seahawks

(San Diego, CA) -- Phillip Rivers and Antonio Gates were on point Sunday afternoon as the Chargers knocked off the Seahawks 30-21 at Qualcomm Stadium.  Rivers fired three touchdown passes for 284 yards with Gates on the receiving end of all three. Gates caught seven passes for 96 yards and Eddie Royal added 69 yards on seven catches. Danny Woodhead led the Chargers with 32 rushing yards on eight carries as San Diego improves to 1-1. Percy Harvin recorded a 51-yard rushing touchdown to give the Seahawks an early 7-3 lead. Russell Wilson found the end zone twice through the air, hooking up with running backs Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin. Seattle is 1-1.


Texans Cruise Past Raiders

(Oakland, CA) -- The Texans built a 27-point lead through three quarters and cruised the rest of the way toward a 30-14 win over the Raiders at O.co Coliseum. Arian Foster ran for 138 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed for 139 yards and two scores including one to defensive end J.J. Watt. Andre Johnson caught six balls for 74 yards. Randy Bullock converted on three of his four field goal attempts and the defense forced four turnovers to help Houston move to 2-0 on the year. Derek Carr threw for 263 yards and one score while being picked off twice for Oakland. James Jones caught nine passes for 112 yards a touchdown and Darren McFadden rushed for 37 yards and a TD as the Raiders dipped to 0-2.


Packers Rally To Beat Jets

(Green Bay, WI) -- The Packers overcame a 21-3 second quarter deficit to pick up a 31-24 victory over the Jets from Lambeau Field. After an aborted snap opened the game for Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns while passing Bart Starr for second in franchise history for passing yards. Jordy Nelson caught nine passes for 209 yards and a score and Randall Cobb caught two TDs as Green Bay picked up its first victory of the season.  Geno Smith tossed for 176 yards and a touchdown with a pick while also running for 26 yards and a score. Smith threw a game-tying touchdown to Jeremy Kerley in late in the game that was negated by a timeout called by Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. Eric Decker hauled in four balls for 63 yards and a TD before leaving in the second half with a hamstring injury. New York is 1-1.


Broncos Hold Off Chiefs

(Denver, CO) -- The Chiefs were stopped twice at the Broncos' two-yard line as Denver grabbed a 24-17 victory over their AFC West rival at Mile High. Peyton Manning completed 21-of-26 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns. Julius Thomas hauled in a TD, his fourth in two games, along with Demaryius Thomas and Jacob Tamme. The Broncos improved to 2-0. Kansas City's injury woes continued as they lost star running back Jamaal Charles to a sprained ankle in the first quarter. Knile Davis did a superb job filling in with  79 yards and two scores on the ground. Dwayne Bowe returned from his one game suspension to haul in three catches for 40 yards.  Alex Smith didn't throw a touchdown or an interception as KC slipped to 0-2.
