(Seattle, WA) -- The Seahawks picked up right where they left off in dominating the Packers, 36-16, to kick off the 2014 NFL season at CenturyLink Field.  Marshawn Lynch led the way for the defending Super Bowl champions, scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 110 yards on 20 carries. Russell Wilson completed 19-of-28 passes for 191 yards, two scores and no turnovers. Percy Harvin compiled seven catches for 59 yards and four rushes for 41 yards.

Seattle outgained the Packers 398 yards to 255.  Aaron Rodgers was held to 189 yards through the air with a touchdown, interception and he was sacked three times.  Running back Eddie Lacy left the game with a concussion. Randall Cobb caught a TD and John Kuhn got into the endzone in the defeat.

Bears, Bills Clash From Soldier Field

(Chicago, IL) -- The Chicago Bears welcome the Buffalo Bills to Soldier Field, looking to rebound from just missing the playoffs in 2013. The Bears enter their second season under head coach Marc Trestman, following an 8-and-8 year where they fell to the Green Bay Packers in Week 17 that cost them the NFC North crown. Jay Cutler enters his sixth season under center for Chicago. He is the franchise's all-time leading passer with nearly 15-thousand yards. The team boasts two one-thousand-yard receivers in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery from 2013. Buffalo enters its second season under coach Doug Marrone and second-year QB E.J. Manuel. The team has posted back-to-back-to-back 6-10 seasons, and has not been above .500 since 2004. Buffalo is excited about its offense with Manuel and 2014 first-round pick, wideout Sammy Watkins. The Bills enter their first season without owner Ralph Wilson, who passed away in the offseason.

Safety Chris Conte and center Brian de la Puente were both full participants at Bears practice on Thursday. They were both limited on Wednesday. Fullback Tony Fiammetta was limited for the second straight day.

Rams Try To Push Past Bradford Injury Against Vikings

(St. Louis, MO) -- The St. Louis Rams open up the 2014 season with a different look at the most important position when the Vikings invade the Edward Jones Dome Sunday afternoon. St. Louis lost starting quarterback Sam Bradford during the third week of the preseason and he will be replaced by veteran Shaun Hill. Hill hasn't started a game since he played for the Lions in 2010. The Rams are coming off their second consecutive seven-win season as they try to break through in the difficult NFC West.  Minnesota first-year head coach Mike Zimmer decided to go with veteran QB Matt Cassel instead of rookie Teddy Bridgewater. The Vikings look to help Cassel out with an improved offense under coordinator Norv Turner. Turner will have star running back Adrian Peterson at his disposal along with potential breakout candidates in second-year wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson and tight end Kyle Rudolph.  Minnesota stumbled to a 5-10-1 record in 2013.

The Rams are trying to free up some salary cap space. The "Post-Dispatch" says the contract of Chris Long and Austin Pettis were restructured to save nearly $2.5-million this season. Long didn't lose any money while Pettis cut down from 1.431-million to 950,000.

Vikings' Peterson Predicts TD On First Run

(Eden Prairie, MN) -- Like baseball legend Babe Ruth, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is calling his shot. With prompting from reporters, Peterson predicted Thursday he would score on his first carry of the season Sunday against the Rams. Peterson said he told some teammates that same thing last year and then ripped off a 78-yard touchdown run on his first play against the Lions.

Jim Kelly Proclaimed Cancer Free

Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly released a statement Thursday announcing that doctors treating him for a recurrence of cancer have proclaimed him to be free of the disease. Kelly underwent a series of biopsies in his jaw last Thursday at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital, which treating physician Dr. Peter Costantino told the former Buffalo Bills star indicated no evidence of cancer.

Kelly's initial  bout with squamous cell carcinoma led to the removal of a portion of his jaw in 2013. The cancer returned this past March and forced the 54-year-old to undergo a series of chemotherapy and radiation treatments over the past few months.
