St. Anthony Finishes Second In Girls, Boys Cumberland C.C. Invites

Effingham St. Anthony claimed second place in the Cumberland Cross Country Invitationals Saturday for both boys and girls.

In the boys meet, Tolono Unity won with 68 points followed by St. Anthony 83, Cerro Gordo-Bement 89, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 91, Marshall 110, Cumberland 143, Dieterich 168, Sulilvan 197, Villa Grove 225 and Mattoon 289.

ALAH's Logan Beckmier won the event with a time of 15:53.2.

St. Anthony's Julius Ramos finished 11th in 17:12.6 followed by Conlan Walsh 12th in 17:27.2, Giovanti Buccio 17th in 17:58.6, Noah Flaig 22nd in 18:35.6 and Oliver Kreke in 19:00.5.

North Clay/Flora/Clay City's Owen Ayers finished 14th in the top 20 in 17:42.6. Cumberland's Riley Morgan was 20th in 18:16.6.

In the girls meet, Marshall was the team champion with 25 points followed by St. Anthony 59, Mattoon 105, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 119, Tuscola 131, Dieterich 138, Cumberland 146 and Paris 150.

Marshall's Molly Farrell won the meet in 17:47.8 while Brooklyn Bender was second in 19:14.1.

St. Anthony's Emma Helmink finished seventh in 21:33.0 followed by teammates Stacie Vonderheide 11th in 21:41.9, Taylor Miller 17th in 23:26.7, Maddie Hodge 18th in 23:29.0 and Ava Faber 29th in 24:21.2.

North Clay/Clay City's Brooke Koelm was 13th in 22:42.4 while Altamont's Abby Weishaar was 14th in 22:52.5. Dieterich's Ella Kreke took 19th in 23:30.0 and Cumberland's Lexie Fletcher 20th in 23:31.0.
