Cross Country Runners Set For Sectional Meets

Seven area high schools will have individuals or teams competing in cross country sectional competition Saturday.

Effingham St. Anthony, Effingham, Dieterich, Neoga, Cumberland, Teutopolis and Newton will be well represented at the Class 1A and Class 2A sectionals.

The Bulldogs advanced both a boys and a girls team to the Class 1A Decatur St. Teresa Sectional. Members of the boys team are Aidan Braunecker, Gio Buccio, Sam Deters, Griffen Elder, Max Sager, Calvin Sudkamp, Conlan Walsh and Nick Wiedman.

Members of the girls team are Ava Faber, Carrey Goeckner, Riley Guy, Emma Helmink, Taylor Miller, Grace Niebrugge, Macy Rietz and Rilie Willenborg.

Newton's boys and girls teams also will be competing at the St. Teresa Sectional. The Eagles won the boys regional title and include Clay Bergbower, Ian Bower, Owen Mahaffey, Brock Probst, Nick Shamhart, Isaac Street, Ben Street, Luke Weber, Luis Zavala and Nick Zwilling.

Members of the girls team are Rylea Borgic, Alexis Hetzer, Natalie Kistner, Ella Radke, Taylor Slough and Lucy Yager.

Cumberland's boys team of Michael Beaumont, Rylan Eaton, Riley Morgan, Wiley Peters, Jack Pruemer and Hank Warfel advanced to St. Teresa.

Dieterich and Neoga will be represented by girls teams. Included on the Dieterich square are Kaitlyn Boerngen, Olivia Brummer, Cortney Brummer, Makenna French, Adriana Gordon, Ella Kreke, Kady Tegeler and Ruby Westendorf.

On the Neoga squad are Emma Butler, Maggie Clark, Ani Edwards, Lexie Fletcher, Abbagayl Howald, Addison Mast and Myah Wright.

T-town will have one lone runner, Olivia Copple for the girls.

The girls race begins at 10 a.m. with the boys race scheduled for 11 a.m.

The top six teams will qualify for State along with the first 10 runners not members of qualifying teams.

Effingham will have a girls team and two boys competing at the Decatur MacArthur Sectional Saturday.

Running for the Hearts girls squad are Gracie Eaton, Haddie Hill, Kayleigh Koester, Jessica Larson, Allison MIller, Morgan Springer and Audrey Wagoner.

Two runners will take part for EHS in the boys race and those include Andrew Donaldson and Garrett Wagoner.

The girls race is scheduled for 10 a.m. with the boys to start at 11 a.m.

The first seven teams advance to State along with the first 10 runners not members of qualifying teams.

The Class 1A, 2A and 3A State meets are scheduled for Saturday, November 6 at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
