Runners Set For Cross Country Regionals

High school cross country teams will be heading into regional action Saturday around the area.

Eight area teams will be competing in the Class 1A Robinson Regional.including Effingham St. Anthony, Altamont, Cumberland, Dieterich, North Clay (Louisville) Co-op, Neoga, Newton and Teutopolis. Other teams competing are Casey-Westfield Co-op, Fairfield Co-op, Flora, Grayville, Hutsonvile/Palestine, Lawrenceville Co-op, Marshall, Mount Carmel, Odin Co-op, Robinson and Salem.

The girls race begins at 9 a.m. with the boys race at 10.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will be competing in the Class 1A Tuscola Regional along with Argenta-Oreana Co-op, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Bement Co-op, Bethany Okaw Valley, Clinton, Decatur St. Teresa, Heyworth, Monticello, Moweaqua Centrel A&M, Pana, Shelbyville, Sulilvan, Tuscola and Villa Grove.

The girls race is at 10 a.m. with the boys race at 10:45 a.m.

Effingham will be taking part in the Class 2A Olney Regional along with Champaign Centennial, Champaign Central, Charleston, Danville, Mahomet-Seymour, Mattoon, Mount Vernon, Olney, Rantoul and Urbana.

The girls race is at 10 a.m. with the boys race at 11 a.m.

The top seven teams advance to sectional action along with the top five runners, not members of those qualifying teams.

Decatur St. Teresa will host the Class 1A Sectional while the Class 2A Sectional will be hosted by Decatur MacArthur, both Saturday, October 30
