Altamont Lutheran Cross Country Runners To Compete At State

On Friday, October 23 four Altamont Lutheran cross country runners will be competing in the SIJHSAA Class S State Cross Country Finals located at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

On October 17 the Rockets traveled to Foundation Park in Centralia for the SIJHSAA Class S Regional Meet. Competing teams included St. Mary's Centralia, Willow Grove, Central City, North Wamac, New Horizon, and Grand Prairie. 

In the girl's race eighth-grader Abby Weishaar took sixth overall with a time of 13:03 on the 1.86 mile course. Sixth-grader and newcomer Annie Cutler was close behind her teammate in seventh place overall and a time of 13:12. The Rockets placed fourth as a team with a score of 67. 

On the boy's side eighth-grader and returning state finalist Hayden Summers bested the field placing first overall with a time of 10:31. Teammate and fifth-grader Cooper McManaway placed sixth overall with a time of 11:14 on the 1.86 mile course. As a team the Rockets finished third overall with 56 points. 

These four individuals compete at the SIJHSAA Class S State Cross Country Finals on Friday starting with the first girl's race at 9 am in DuQuoin. Spectators are not allowed, but the event will be livestreamed.
