Cross Country Class 1A State Finishes

PEORIA -- Teutopolis High School captured 14th place in the Class 1A Girls State Cross Country Meet Saturday at Detweiler Park.

Winning the team title was Eureka with 84 followed by Rock Falls 123, Tolono Unity 130, Winnebago 21, St. Joseph-Ogden 226, Elmhurst IC Catholic 234, El Paso-Gridley 246, Williamsville 251, Rockford Christian 255, Herscher 258, Stanford Olympia 273, Pleasant Plains 280, Monticello 289, Teutopolis 369, Urbana University 375, Freeburg 407, DuQuoin 409, Beecher 448, Tolono Stark County 485, Seneca 513, Roxana 542, Kankakee McNamara 565, Clifton Central 594, Okawville 601 and Pinckneyville 610.

Winning the individual championship was Emma Argo from Eureka with a time of 16:59.73.

Scoring for Teutopolis were Morgan Mette finishing 41st in 18:36.12, Jessica Runde 72nd in 19:05.04, Kaitlyn Schumacher 100th in 19:37.60, Rebecca Habing 113th in 19:51.82, Abby Bloemer 178th in 21:32.09, Katie Kingery 195th in 22:31.08 and Kylie Hoelscher 206th in 23:45.62.

The other lone area runner in the meet was Newton's Abby Stone who finished 32nd in 18:20.84.

In the Class 1A Boys State Meet, Cumberland captured 18th place as a team with 448 points.

Winning the meet was Clifton Central with 139 followed by Elmwood Co-op 143, Monticello 189, Stanford Olympia 219, Urbana University 226, Robinson 231, El Paso-Gridley 240, Chicago University 282, Niles Northridge Prep 282, Eureka 283, Athens 292, Freeburg 318, Seneca 341, Glen Carbon Father McGivney 379, Rock Falls 390, Winnebago 408, Sterling Newman Central 418, Cumberland 448, Benton 449, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 460, Marshall 472, Steelleville 480, Herscher 494, Roxana 495, Pontiac 517 and Joliet Catholic Academy 525.

Christopher Collet of Seneca won the individual title with a time of 14:45.25.

Competing for Cumberland were Kort McClellan 37th in 15:46.44, Blake Sutherland 116th in 16:37.46, Logan Edwards 138th in 16:52.29, Rayce Zike 151st in 17:03.82, Michael Carpenter 153rd in 17:04.53, Wiley Peters 212th in 18:30.40 and Joel Heynen 216th in 19:33.07.

T-town's Noah Probst captured 40th in 15:49.02. Neoga's Reece Johnson was 51st in 15:55.75.
