EHS Girls Third, Boys Sixth at Apollo Conference Meet

MOUNT ZION -- Effingham High School captured third place in the girls and sixth in the boys Apollo Conference Cross Country Meets Tuesday.

In the girls meet, Mahomet-Seymour won with 18 points followed by Mount Zion 65, Effingham 98, Mattoon 102, Charleston 118, Lincoln 162 and Taylorville 177.

Mahomet-Seymour took the top two spots and placed all five runners in the top six. Winning was Elizabeth Sims with a time of 19:48.49.

Effingham's Miranda Fox took eighth in 21:03.59. Also scoring for the Hearts were Kiley Weaver 16th in 22:27.22, Daelyn Dunston 20th in 23:24.45, Hope Monnet 26th in 24:38.11 and Madison Tilford 28th in 24:57.31.

In the boys meet, Mount Zion won with 39 points followed by Mahomet-Seymour 51, Charleston 53, Taylorville 92, Mattoon 124, Effingham 162 and Lincoln 211.

Winning the individual title was Mahomet-Seymour's Mathias Powell with a time of 15:52.40.

Effingham's top finisher was Andrew Perry 24th in 19:25.58. Also scoring for the Hearts were Zeel Patel 27th in 19:44.11, Clayton Cramsey 32nd in 20:08.85,  Jon Perry 39th in 21:14.66 and Dane Seiler 40th in 21:33.61.
