Area Teams Compete at Robinson C.C. Invite

ROBINSON -- Area high school cross country teams competed at the Robinson Invitational Thursday.

Winning the boys meet was Charleston with 84 points followed by Robinson 103, Olney 122, Lawrenceville 123, Cumberland 140, Benton 154, Marshall 223, Teutopolis 227, Effingham St. Anthony 252, Casey-Westfield 273, Mattoon 289, Neoga 308, Fairfield 319,  Hutsonville/Palestine 354, Sullivan/Okaw Valley 398, Effingham 409, Paris 418, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 471, Newton 501, Dieterich 507, Mount Carmel 549 and Altamont 625. Tolono Unity did not have enough for a team score.

Charleston's Nick Oakley was the winner with a time of 15:12.88. Neoga's Reece Johnson finished fifth in 15:57.12 while Cumberland's Kort McClellan was sixth in 16:01.80. The top St. Anthony runner was Brian Dust who took 23rd in 16:55.98. T-town's top finisher was Noah Probst 26th in 17:03.67. Effingham's top runner was Alfredo Lopez 42nd in 17:33.10.

In the girls meet, Tolono Unity was the team champion with 26 points as the squad placed five team members in the top 11. Jordan Harmon captured first place in 18:25.21 while Evelyn Abkins was second in 18:25.91. Caroline Bachert took fifth in 19:03.87 while Kylie Decker was ninth in 19:40.59 and Savannah Day 11th in 19:44.19.

The top area finisher was Cumberland's Jasmyn Dittamore fifth in 18:50.58. St. Anthony's Sarah Carr took seventh in 19:12.63 and Newton's Abby Stone was 10th in 19:41.22.

Neoga's Emmalyn Walk finished 13th in 19:51.55. Effingham's Miranda Fox finished 18th in 20:01.11 followed by T-town's Kara Weichman 19th in 20:01.26.
