Neoga, T-town Pick Up Cross Country Wins

MATTOON -- Neoga High School nabbed both a boys and a girls cross country meet Tuesday at Lake Land College.

In the girls meet, Neoga was a 22-36 winner over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. The Indians took the top three spots as Emma Walk won in 21:27 followed by Courtney Reel in 22:06 and Kylee Phillips in 22:31. Allison Kingery took sixth in 24:35 and Ellis Clark was ninth in 26:45.

CHBC's top finisher was Jaelyn Robertson fourth in 23:06.

In the boys meet, Neoga won with 22 points while CHBC had 39. Villa Grove had four runners but not enough for a team score.

Neoga's Reece Johnson was the winner in 17:10. Trevor Roy took second in 18:32 while Brody Titus was fifth in 20:07. Also scoring were Michael Dietz eighth in 21:19 and Brayden Eaton 10th in 21:26.

CHBC's top finisher was Dylan Taylor third in 18:40.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis downed Newton in both boys and girls competition Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won the boys meet 19-42 by taking the top three spots and top five in seven.

Noah Probst won with a time of 18:31 while Ethan Weidner was second in 18:44.2 and Jordan Schumacher third in 18:45.2 The Shoes' Brody Mette finished sixth in 20:01.8 and Jacob Schmidt was seventh in 20:10.1

Newton's top finisher was Victor Sandschaefer fourth in 19:23.6.

In the girls meet, T-town was a 20-38 winner. Newton's Abby Stone won the meet in 21:16.5. T-town then swept through the next five spots. Kara Weichman was second in 21:18.3 followed by Morgan Mette in 22:13.5, Jessica Runde in 22:44.6, Rebecca Habing in 23:35.0 and Jenelle Vogt in 24:45.6.
