EHS Claims Girls Meet, T-town Wins Boys C.C. Meet

DIETERICH -- Effingham High School claimed first in the girls meet while Teutopolis won the boys cross country meet Thursday at Dieterich High School.

The Hearts tallied 24 points followed by Teutopolis 32, Newton 73 and no score for Dieterich.

Effingham took the top two spots as Miranda Fox won in 18:47 followed by Alexis Monnet with a time of 19:02. Also scoring for the Hearts were Meredith Kull fourth in 21:19, Ashlyn Hanks eighth in 23:02 and Brianna Schmidt 10th in 23:12.

T-town's top finisher was Kara Weichman in third with a time of 19:47. Dieterich's top runner was Gracie Britton ninth in 23:05. Newton's Irene Uriarte was 11th in 23:18.

In the boys meet, T-town won with 31 points followed by Newton 41, Effingham 60 and Dieterich 69.

Effingham's Jacob Donaldson won the meet in 16:21. T-town's scoring came from Jordan Schumacher second in 17:04, Noah Probst fourth at 17:17, Garrett Hartke seventh in 18:09, Jacob Schmidt eighth in 18:29 and Ian Copple 10th in 18:35.

Newton's Collin Harris finished third in 17:09. Dieterich's Brandon Mahnke finished ninth in 18:35.
